Introduction

My name is Craig and I'm 22 years old. I am currently living in Fairbanks. I moved up here with my family thirteen years ago and although I wasn't born here, I figure anyone who's managed to stick it out for over a decades worth of our winters has earned the right to call themselves an Alaskan.
I'm not really sure what my expectations for this class are yet. My hopes are that it improves my ability to write and teaches me how to get more out of what I read. Most importantly, I hope it gives me a better appreciation for English and writing in general. I've never really been one for English all throughout school, always been much more fond of math, science, or other more technical related subjects. However, as I've grown I've come to realize how important being a good writer is, especially for a scientist. A discovery is worth nothing if the information one's found cannot be conveyed in the first place.
As for my writing history, there is not much to speak of. I'm sure over ninety percent of what I've produced has been for school, while the remaining ten percent consist of scatter brained notes and idea's. I've attempted to keep a journal a few times, but most of them never saw more than just a couple entries.
Much of my time is spent either working at the Carlson Center or being with friends. My hobbies include doing small home improvement projects with my dad, riding my snow machine, working on computers, or playing video games. I do most of my reading on the internet, primarily keeping up to date on the worlds scientific and technological developments, however, over the past year I've been gaining more and more of an interest in politics as well.
